The Diamond Well Control Tool (DWCT) is an essential component designed for downhole well control operations. Crafted from durable 316 stainless steel, it features a ported nipple mechanism along with a lock-in seal stem, which seamlessly fits into the DWCT to effectively seal off ports.
Primarily intended for deployment on tubing strings positioned one joint above an electric submersible pump, the DWCT finds extensive application in high-pressure well scenarios where the regulation of kill mud or kill fluid is crucial for effective well control.
During the tubing string’s insertion, the DWCT facilitates the entry of fluid into the tubing string while maintaining its internal pressure equilibrium through its open ports. Upon reaching the desired depth, the circulation of kill fluid is initiated to stabilize the well. Subsequently, a wireline truck is mobilized to install a specialized lock-in seal stem equipped with CO2, H2S service O-rings, and monel latching fingers within a 316 stainless steel body.
These O-rings serve to seal off the ports on the DWCT, effectively securing the system. The seal stem tool is then firmly set and locked in place. Finally, the well is prepared for service by retracting the assembly using the wireline truck, ensuring its readiness for subsequent operations.
